E.R DJ Choc


Starting the year on a Legendary status, a feature of the finest East Rand maestro. He’s 15yrs in the art and still going strong and still envisioning global greatness.
DJ Chock a legend, family man,businessman and would be mechanic.

 

Best: Where are you from and do they love your music where you from?
DJ Choc: Vosloorus, on the East Rand of Johannesburg, 🙂 I like to think they love my music.
Best: When did you start Djing?
DJ Choc: When I was 17
Best: So when did you decide that this was no longer a hobby and that you would make it your career?
DJ Choc:  About 15 years ago
Best: So what do you think sets you apart from the rest? I mean, what’s the difference between a DJ and you?
DJ Choc: My sets are not the standard set you would expect from a DJ, I am an old school and house DJ. I never premix a set, my sets are always fresh and mixed live.
Best: What is it like when you look out at the crowd?
DJ Choc: Exciting, as I started, I hardly ever look up, I am actually quiet shy, but that first view on the crowd never gets old, it is overwhelming, terrifying and electric all at the same time.
Best: where did/do you get inspiration from?
DJ Choc: Louise Vega
Best: Do you get nervous before you go on stage?
DJ Choc: Yes every time
Best :What is the biggest crowd that you have ever played for?
DJ Choc: 30 000 in a stadium
Best: What is the greatest gig that you’ve played?
DJ Choc: There are too many to chose and every single gig is as special and as important as the next
for me, personally, it has gone to deep
Best: Now you are legend , do you have plenty women who thrown themselves at you?
DJ Choc: I only have eyes for one woman, my wife
Best: Is being a Dj lucrative?
DJ Choc: Not in RSA, perhaps internationally, do not get me wrong, you can make a living, but to be massive is hard here.
Best: What other businesses are you involved in?
DJ Choc: I own a record label, a sound hire company and a used spares business. I never stop working and ensuring my island is waiting for me when I retire
Best: what do you spend your money on?
DJ Choc: Cologne and belts, and PETROL 🙂
Best: What about cars or a House – you know?
DJ Choc: I have everything I have ever dreamed of
Best: How many cars & houses do you have?
DJ Chock: I have enough, I am truly blessed
Best: How many studio albums do you have if not are you looking to release anything in the future?
DJ Choc: Three of my own and I have produced countless others, I have just released my in HOUSE BAND its album, enough is enough, which is available for downloads now
Best: Is there any artist you wish to work with in our industry?
DJ Chock: I have already worked with so many phenomenal artists and producers, But i am always looking to work with new and up and coming artists
Best: How do you think music you play has changed over the years?
DJ Chock: Music has become more available to DJ’s. Good beats, good tracks and I think that it is made more accessible than it was say, 10 years ago
Best: Are you big into social media. how many twitter followers?
DJ Chock: Hahahaha, I am brand new to twitter, so please follow me @djchocsa, I am on instagram and facebook, learning eberyday
Best: As a legend in the music Indystry what would be your advice to up and coming DJs?
DJ Chock: A Legend, “Thank You” , I am humbled to be called a legend, I do not feel like one, I am just a man who gets to do what he loves, my advice would be to stay humble, practice and knock on every door, take every opportunity.
Best: If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing?
DJ Chock: I would be a mechanic 🙂
